Coronavirus #57 - summary of the week

Facial masks for elders, discount for merchants and additional lessons for high school graduates. These are just some of the decisions that have recently been made in the Municipality in connection with the COVID-19 epidemic. An overview of the most important actions of the past week below:
1. Further weddings has been cancelled
- no ceremonies will be held at the Registry Office until at least the 19th of April
- the decision concerns 24 couples
- newlyweds were offered new dates in the second half of the year
2. Minimal rent at marketplaces
- monthly rent for shopping centres and marketplaces will be 1 PLN
- the rate is valid until the end of September
- The city ordered nearly 25 000 protective masks from local producers
- in the first place, they will be distributed to people who are over 65 years old through the Senior Centre and the City Guard
- further batches of masks will be ordered
4. An appeal concerning Pomerania Euroregion
- Krzysztof Soska appealed to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland to consider the possibility of adopting specific legal regulations regarding cross-border employees
- This would improve the condition of the services and trade sector on the border as well as the material situation of employees from Poland and Germany
- The Association of Polish Municipalities of the Pomerania Euroregion declared full readiness to cooperate in the development of new solutions
5. Coronavirus testing equipment already in the hospital
- virological diagnostics equipment was transferred to Independent Public Clinical Hospital No. 1 at ul. Unii Lubelskiej 1
- employees of Szczecin hospitals and medical staff will be examined first
- the device cost less than 300 000 PLN
6. The government presented the stages of lifting restrictions and limits
- from the 20th of April (Monday) some security rules will change
- more people will be able to stay in shops at one time, and forests and parks will be opened for recreational purposes. Szczecin also opens the three largest ecoports
- further steps of getting back to normal will be introduced gradually, when the rate of new incidents decreases
7. Special faculties for high school graduates
- Szczecin graduates will receive additional support from the City before their most important exam
- special faculties and consultations await high school graduates, over 4500 lesson hours in total
- students from 114 graduation classes will be able to use the help
- the 28th -30th of August, this is a new date of this years’ Sea Days
- the event will take the form of a family picnic on both sides of the Oder River, without big stage
- the regatta representation of Szczecin will not take part in The Tall Ships` Races 2020
