Coronavirus #53 - face masks for residents
Marta Kufel

The first batch of protective masks will go to Szczecin elders, i.e. people from the so-called risk groups. The city ordered nearly 25 000 pieces from local producers. Soon more batches of masks will be distributed to residents.
- First of all, they will go to people who are over 65, i.e. our elders who are particularly vulnerable to coronavirus infection. Most residents have already stocked up with such equipment, but we will try to help those who do not have such a mask. This will be possible, among others, thanks to the great initiative "Szczecinianki szyją maseczki" (Szczecinian women sew masks). We delivered materials and ordered 6 000 reusable masks from the ladies. I would like to express my gratitude already, and we will definitely order more soon - says Piotr Krzystek, Mayor of Szczecin
The masks will be distributed by the City Guard and the Senior Centre, which also became the coordinator of the "Senior for Senior" campaign. This initiative encourages to sew mask or prepare the materials for sewing them by elders who have the opportunity and want to help others. They will engage in doing noble deeds, they will also be activated and feel needed, what, in the current situation and isolation is very important. Various Szczecin organizations working for the eldest residents of our city have also been invited to join the campaign.
