The Textile Festival: Personal Threads – Exhibition by Aleksandra Gisges-Dalecka

    Pomeranian Library

The Textile Festival in Szczecin and the Pomeranian Library invite you to Personal Threads, an exhibition of textile art by Aleksandra Gisges-Dalecka, marking the twentieth anniversary of her artistic journey. The show presents a unique cross-section of her works – the result of years of passion, experimentation and craftsmanship.

Personal Threads is not only a display of finished pieces but also a narrative about the creative process – a reflection on order and chaos, on what at first appears disorganised in everyday life and later emerges as a fully realised artistic expression.

In Gisges-Dalecka’s work, loosely entangled fibres are transformed into carefully composed forms, where every element finds its place. Weaving becomes both tool and foundation of her artistic voice. Precision, attention to detail and mastery of technique lend her works clarity and strength, while a restrained, monochrome palette highlights the structures and textures of her textiles.

Her pieces often blur the line between applied art and autonomous artworks, sometimes entering into dialogue with space and the human body. Some take on a scenographic character, reminiscent of theatrical props, evoking playfulness and inviting interaction. Rich in detail, sensitive to material, and tinged with subtle humour, they encourage both visual delight and personal interpretation.

On view are textile works from the last decade – a testament to how the artist has honed her craft, remained true to her passion, and embraced innovative approaches. Though often monochromatic, the depth of texture and nuance makes them striking and full of life. Personal Threads is ultimately a journey through creation itself: from raw material to living form, from the free movement of threads to a moment captured in fabric.
