The Ducal Castle
From the Middle Ages to the present, the exhibition displays iconographic material related to Szczecin's ducal seat.
Guests will see the first known engravings of the castle (E. Sane), a view of the Ducal Residence after Johann Friedrich's Renaissance reconstruction (G. Braun, F. Hogenberg), and the addition of the museum wing by Philip II (M. Merian). The castle's history under Swedish rule (J. Zeuner) is also depicted, as is its transformation during the Prussian (A. Most) and German periods (archive photos).
Photographs documenting the building's destruction during the war and reconstruction afterward are also on display.
The exhibition concludes with a description of the north wing of the palace's modernization in 2014-2015.
The Castle Courtyards are open to the public daily from 06:00 to 23:00.
