An exhibition of posters by Arkadiusz Marcinkowski devoted to the Festival of Polish Contemporary Painting in Szczecin.
Marcinkowski, a graduate of the State Secondary School of Fine Arts in Szczecin, presents 26 posters that should not be seen simply as illustrations of the festival. Instead, they are its artistic echo – a personal response by an artist for whom the Festival of Polish Contemporary Painting has long been an important point of reference in thinking about art.
The works form a dialogue with painting, with the history of this distinctive event, and with questions about the future of the image in an age of new technologies. They do not interpret specific paintings or portray festival artists, but reflect on the very idea of painting: its power, materiality, colour, light and emotional presence.
Here, the poster becomes more than a means of communication. It is an independent artistic statement, capable of entering into dialogue with painting on equal terms.
The exhibition is co-organised with the State Secondary School of Fine Arts in Szczecin.
