About the Exhibition
The works gathered under the title “Sensing Life” bring painterly self-reflection into the light from the dark and crooked corners of introspection. The pieces explore the cyclical nature of time and the duality encrypted in the materiality of image-making—through the language of words and metaphor.
“Life and non-life, the ways we perceive it and the strategies we use to avoid seeing it, are like two sides of the same painting: one brushed with colour, and the reverse, where only blackness seeps through.
Sensing, it seems, is a dominant and unifying synonym of experience, surpassing perception. In the field of consciousness, a transparent and simultaneous struggle continues—with the non-sensing and the unseen reality of non-life.
In the porous space between life and death, the image wishes to speak—and therefore, to live. At least, that’s what I’ve managed to determine so far.”
