A concert of Polish film music
August Breakthroughs is an open-air concert first conceived in 2015 to commemorate the events of Szczecin’s August ’80 and August ’88.
Each year, on the last weekend of the summer holidays, Tomasz Raczek takes the audience on an atmospheric journey through the world of music that has accompanied some of the greatest works of Polish cinema. Performed by the Orchestra of the Castle Opera together with invited soloists, the programme features compositions by outstanding film music creators – melodies that have become part of the collective memory of several generations of Polish film lovers.
As tradition dictates, the repertoire also includes Jacek Kaczmarski’s Mury and the finale with Sen o Victorii by Dżem.
Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and cushions to fully enjoy the atmosphere of this unique event.
Organised by the Marshal of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship and the Castle Opera in Szczecin, with the National Museum in Szczecin as event partner.
