Szczecin’s 80th birthday. Let’s celebrate together! [Programme]

Szczecin’s 80th anniversary celebrations will see a host of attractions for the residents. The main events celebrating our city’s jubilee are starting this first week of July. 
The programme of Szczecin’s 80th anniversary celebrations will be spread over two days. We will be kicking off on 4 July (Friday) with a special session of the City Council and the vernissage of an outdoor photo exhibition. On 5 July (Saturday), after official ceremonies, a festival will be held in the Różanka Rose Garden, with a birthday cake, an outdoor dance, and a host of attractions for the youngest.

In the evening, the event will relocate to the area near the City Hall, offering immersive experiences of the past through a historical reenactment and diorama.

“There will be DJ music and food trucks near the City Hall (facing Jasne Błonia) so everyone can have a nice time,” said Dariusz Sadowski from the City Information Centre. “The celebrations will be topped off with a  feast for the senses  – a special 3D mapping show prepared for the occasion. 

And as if that wasn’t enough, there will be fringe events organised by the NGOs which received financial support under the  #mikroDOTACJE2025 Szczecin TworzyMy programme. These will be held throughout the summer. Municipal companies and institutions will provide a rich selection of attractions as well. This means there will be plenty opportunity for everyone to celebrate the anniversary throughout the rest of the year!

A special session of the Szczecin City Council, 10 a.m., City Council Session Room – attended by representatives of partner cities, Honorary Ambassadors of Szczecin, and former Mayors of Szczecin.

- award of Honorary Ambassador of Szczecin titles and Gold Medals of Merit for the City of Szczecin;

- artistic performance by the Maritime University of Szczecin Choir.

Launch of the open-air exhibition entitled “80 Years of Szczecin”, 1 p. m. (Square at Jasne Błonia)

Ceremony to mark the 80th anniversary of Poland taking over the administration of Szczecin, and Szczecin Pioneers Day celebrations, noon, at the Monument to the Polish Endeavour.

- performance of Szczecin’s Bugle Call by students of Prof. M. Jasiński General Music School No. 1 , speech, flower-laying ceremony;

- artistic performance by the “Krąg”  Szczecin Region Singing and Dancing Ensemble, Jan Kasprowicz Park.
 

Birthday in Różanka, 1 p.m. – 8 p.m., Różanka Rose Garden: birthday cake, interactive play and animation area for children, concerts, birthday dance.

Historical reenactment, 8 p.m., Plac Armii Krajowej 1 (facing the City Hall).

Diorama, 8:30 p.m. – 10 p.m. (immediately after the reenactment), Plac Armii Krajowej 1 (facing the City Hall).

80 Years of Szczecin 3D Mapping Show, two shows at 10.30 p.m. and 11 p.m., City Hall, facing Plac Armii Krajowej.
