Works at the Podjuchy Interchange

The progress of works on the construction of the Podjuchy Interchange is highly advanced. The bus section, roadways, pavements, the ticket office building and the car park are already present.
This investment is a huge leap forward in quality for passengers and in facilitation in sustainable public transport. The P&R car park together with the loop will become an element of a larger whole, which in the coming years will transform the image of public transport in our city.
On the construction site, adjustments were made to the manholes of wells and rain gullies, as well as macro-levelling works within the bus bay and a layer of crushed-stone aggregate foundation within the car park were completed.
“The curbs and the traffic island on Metalowa Street are ready” - says Hanna Pieczyńska, Spokesperson of ZDiTM. The contractor proceeds with the laying of kerbs, edging and substructures in the P&R car park and the bus bay. Paving is in progress in parking lots and on footpaths and car parks. The installation of window and door joinery has been completed and finishing works have begun at the cash point.
In the nearest future, the following works are planned:
- further electrical and teletechnical developments in the area of the bus bay,
- further works related to the laying of kerbs and pavements in the area of the car park, bus bay and Metalowa Street,
- further construction and pavement surfaces,
- initiation of paving the stone surface in the area of the bus bay,
- installation of an abrasive layer on Metalowa Street,
- further electrical works and start of installation works in the social and cash office building,
- installation of window joinery and roof sheathing in the social and cash office building.
About the project
The construction of an interchange at the Podjuchy station is an element of a development project executed by the Association of the Szczecin Metropolitan Area associated with the construction of the Szczecin Metropolitan Railway, which will constitute an axis of public transport in the functional area of the City of Szczecin.
The project’s hubs are intended to improve communication between the various modes of transport and contribute to increasing interest in public transport.
The scope of works will cover in particular:
- construction of a bus terminal, including land development,
- construction of car parks for Park&Ride cars,
- construction of Bike&Ride parking lot,
- construction of bus shelters,
- construction of elements of the Passenger Information System,,
- demolition of existing buildings and surfaces,
- construction of a social and cash infrastructure,
- construction of a vehicle counting system in the car park,
- construction/reconstruction of pavements,
- construction/reconstruction of street lighting,
- construction/reconstruction of drainage of designed surfaces,
- rebuilding of colliding utility infrastructure,
- construction of exits,
- introduction of permanent traffic organisation.
The investment cost of the project, which is performed by MUSING BUD Sp. z o.o. Sp.k. is PLN 11.6 million.
Construction of an interchange Podjuchy station with facilities related to the integration of transport on railway line 273 within the project “Construction of the Szczecin Metropolitan Railway based on the existing sections of railway lines No. 406, 273, 351”.
