Two new parking apps in Szczecin

A parking meter in your pocket – this statement describes in a nutshell the advantages of mobile apps for parking fees. Starting today, drivers parking their vehicles in Szczecin can choose from four apps of this type.
Previously, there were two services in operation: Sky Cash and MoBiLET. In August, the two were joined by Pango, and since 1 September drivers have been also able to use the Flowbird app. All four apps serve the Paid Parking Zone, paid unguarded car parks (Szymanowskiego, Ogińskiego, Czarnieckiego and Castle Route) and the Old Town home zone.
How much does a driver pay to use the app? Little or nothing at all. It depends on the choice of the service provider or the method of payment. Flowbird adds PLN 0.20 to the ticket, and MoBiLET adds 1.7 percent of the price. Sky Cash does not charge for ticket activation, but if you want to quickly supply your prepaid account (e.g. using PayU or przelewy24) you will be charged 1.9% of the top-up amount.
Topping up your Sky Cash account with a standard bank transfer or paying for your ticket with a debit card is free. There are no additional fees in Pango unless you use the “add to phone bill” option (applies to selected operators), in which case the settlement agent charges a certain commission on each payment.
Mobile payments
These mobile apps allow you to pay for parking with your phone.
“The parking fees are settled for the actual parking time, including the minimum charge”, said Wojciech Jachim, spokesperson of NiOL. “Mobile payments function on the basis of a prepaid service, i.e. in order to park your vehicle, it is necessary to deposit money into the account created in a given service or use the post-paid option with a debit card connected to the account or the DCB service, i.e. payment added to the phone bill.
