The Reboot of the Digitosaurus by Bartosz Sikorski. Online vernissage

The Philharmonic, together with TRAFO and the Art Academy, are inviting you to Bartosz Sikorski’s vernissage of exhibition entitled “The Reboot of the Digitosaurus”. The vernissage will be held online. The meeting with the artist and his works will be streamlined on the Philharmonic’s channels on Facebook and YouTube on Wednesday 3 December at 7:30 p.m.

Bartosz Sikorski’s artistic work is the outcome of close interrelations between music and visual arts. Sikorski’s works stem from his recognition and understanding of a similar structure of a piece of music and a visual piece and the ways in which those are created, for example, the similarities between the placing of the bristle of a brush when painting vertical planes and the placing of the bow when bringing out sounds from the contrabass.

The “Reboot of the Digitosaurus” exhibition will feature polyptychs set in installations composed of paintings “supporting the wall” – totems, sound compositions, sound-art installations and video screenings, sound installations, and the premiere Muffled Channelling (24 channels) – a movable tone cluster on the microtonal scale.

Bartosz Sikorski (born in 1974) – a visual artist who incorporates various media in his works, composer and contrabassist. He studied at the Academy of Art in Berlin (Universität der Künste), the Orchestra Academy of the Berliner Philharmoniker (Orchester-Akademie der Berliner Philharmoniker) and the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna (Akademie der bildenden Künste in Wien), from which he graduated in 2012. Since 2000 he has been a member of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Since 2012 he has run his own atelier, an independent contemporary art space called “SUTERENA”. He was born in Bytom. He lives and works in Vienna.
