The Niezapominajka Support Centre launched

In the nursing home at Krucza St., the Support Centre for the Guardians of Dementia Patients “Niezapominajka”, where they can benefit from support in the form of a day-care unit or specialist counselling.
The day-care unit is open Monday to Friday, between 6:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. It is a place where a person suffering from dementia may be provided with professional care for a few hours during the day. During the time, a family member who provides care to such patient can run some errands or simply relax.
"Senior residents are provided with the care of qualified staff, care services, fitness-improving classes, art classes, music classes or other forms of therapy,” said Maciej Homis, City Spokesman for Social Welfare. “They will also receive meals during their stay there.”
Their carers may also use specialist counselling. It mostly entails psychological support aimed at providing assistance in the sphere of overcoming obstacles related to long-term care over a close person, or advice concerning care over dependent persons - methods of work, care, communication or rehabilitation. Moreover, they can obtain information about benefit entitlements and other forms of support for dependent persons and their families, and consult a lawyer.

The Niezapominajka Support Centre was established as part of project entitled “The ones we care for - a system-based support for families’ care potential” which is co-financed from European Union funds under the European Social Fund.
