The call for candidates for the Szczecin International Sailing Awards has been launched.

The procedure is now open, and awards will be granted in nine categories.
2023 has gone down in history as a year full of sailing expeditions, achievements, distant voyages and amazing accomplishments. It is now the perfect time to appreciate these sailing expeditions. The Sailing Awards ceremony is approaching to honour sailors from West Pomerania and Vorpommern for their exceptional achievement in the previous year.
“The Szczecin International Sailing Awards are a tribute to the sailing community and are intended to popularise sailing and its traditions, to honour the landmark sailing achievements (including those connected with West Pomerania and Vorpommern), to build and develop maritime awareness, and to recognise achievements in the field of maritime education of children and young people”, said Celina Wołosz, Spokesperson for Żegluga Szczecińska Turystyka Wydarzenia.
The call for candidates for the Szczecin International Sailing Awards for 2023 has been launched on 10 January. Applications will be collected until 15 February 2024, and winners will be announced on 16 March.
Awards will be granted in nine categories:
- Main Award ‒ Captain Ludomir Mączka Award;
- Voyage of the Year ‒ the Wyszak Award (funded by the West Pomeranian District Sailing Association);
- Sailor of the Year (also funded by the West Pomeranian District Sailing Association);
- Regatta Racer of the Year – Captain Kazimierz Kuba Jaworski Award;
- Sailing Promoter – Captain Kazimierz Haska Award;
- Umbriaga Cat Award;
- Trainer of the Year – Teodor Czarnecki Award;
- Sailing Event; and
- Aleksander Doba Special Sailing Award.
The application procedure is conducted via an electronic form available on https://www.accredi.pl/nagrodyzeglarskie. The application form can also be downloaded from http://nagrodyzeglarskie.szczecin.pl/ and sent by e-mail to: nagrody.zeglarskie@zstw.szczecin.pl.
Applications for individual awards will be collected until 15 February.
Residents of Szczecin, the West Pomeranian Region and Vorpommern can propose their candidates, and in the case of the Captain Ludomir Mączka Award, candidates can be put forward by people from all over Poland. In addition, candidates can be proposed by members of the Chapter and representatives of public institutions, unions, associations, foundations, organisations and sailing clubs. The nominees for the individual awards will be selected from among the submitted candidates.
