The call for applications for social housing is open
Marta Kufel

On Monday, 10 May, a call for applications for social housing will be launched. These are premises intended for the most needy people. The call is organised by the Municipal Buildings and Premises Board.
The call for applications will start on Monday, 10 May, and will last until Friday, 21 May. Applications along with the required documents can be submitted in person at the ZBiLK office at ul. Mariacka 25 or sent by post.
Every adult resident of Szczecin who has no place to live and has a substantially low income can apply for a social housing unit. For example, a three-person household may have a maximum income of around PLN 3000. In particularly justified cases, the city may conclude a tenancy agreement when the income criterion is exceeded by up to 10%.
According to the Act on the Protection of Tenants' Rights, social housing units are renovated, but may be of a lower standard (a toilet on the split level, furnace heating). The rent in such an apartment is only about PLN 1.4 per sq. m, so, for example, in a 40 sq. m apartment it will be less than PLN 56 per month plus utilities (electricity, gas, etc.).
The applications submitted by residents will be evaluated on a score basis. The number of points will depend on, among other things, how long you have lived in Szczecin, how many children you have, your health, the conditions in which you currently live and whether you benefit from programmes run by the City Centre for Family Support. On the basis of the scores, preliminary lists of submitted applications will be announced. Persons who do not agree with the scoring will have the possibility to submit an appeal within 7 days. Appeals, comments and complaints will be considered by the Social Housing Commission.
Once all appeals have been considered, ZBiLK will publish the final lists of persons who are entitled to social housing.
