Szczecin is 80 years old. Celebration program

Spectacular mapping show, historical reenactment, memorable concerts and... a birthday cake! On the first weekend of July, Szczecin's residents will experience a whole host of attractions as the city celebrates its 80th anniversary of being taken over by the Polish administration.

      Attractions in the city

Celebrations will start on 4 July with a Special City Council Session, featuring representatives of partner cities, Honorary Ambassadors of Szczecin and its former mayors. This day will also see the launch of an open-air exhibition, showcasing, among others, photos made by Szczecin's residents.

On 5 July (Saturday), official ceremonies will be held at the Monument to the Polish Endeavour, followed by an audiovisual spectacle and a historical reenactment that will takes us back to the 1940s. Celebrations will also take place in the Różanka Rose Garden, with an anniversary cake to mark the occasion. The location will also host various fun activities for children, as well as concerts and a dance. Topping the evening off will be a mapping show on the façade of the City Hall. This spectacular show is a unique attraction prepared specifically to celebrate Szczecin's 80th birthday.

80 thousand for the 80th birthday

Separately from the above-mentioned events, Szczecin's NGOs will prepare a range of surprise attractions. As part of the Szczecin TworzyMy programme, the city has allocated PLN 80,000 for NGOs to carry out projects associated with Szczecin's 80th anniversary. Applications will open in April, and the outcomes of third-sector efforts will be on display throughout the summer.

80th anniversary events will be held throughout the year as municipal institutions and companies continue to expand the catalogue of jubilee attractions. Come join us in the celebrations!
