      Six months of the Track Revolution are behind us

      Intensive demolition work is underway at Rodła Square and Wyzwolenia Avenue. Wherever it is possible, work is beginning on creating the roadbed for new roadways and tracks. Work on the track revolution is being carried out in many places simultaneously in order to complete this huge project in time.

      The first 6 months of work on the redevelopment of tracks on the section from Niebuszewo Station to Rodła Square are behind us. To date this complicated task has been carried out as planned.

      “Last week, at Niebuszewo, track works, among other things, were being carried out, the execution of the upper track slab at Kołłątaja Street and the concreting of the lower slab at Asnyka Street – said Hanna Pieczyńska, press spokesperson of the Tramwaje Szczecińskie company. “At the same time, the redevelopment of the heating network at Orzeszkowa Street is in progress, pavers in the area of Rondo Sybiraków can also be seen.”

      In the centre, the roadbed and subgrades for the platform by the park at Matejki Street were made, and paving work was underway at Małopolska and Mazowiecka Streets. Concreting of the upper slab at Hołdu Pruskiego Square also took place.

      The coming days promise to be just as intensive, with plans including:

      - Demolition work and roadbed construction: track and roadways – Rodła Square and Wyzwolenia Avenue
      - Paving work – construction of a platform at Żołnierza Polskiego Square
      - Construction of land drainage sections along Wyzwolenia Avenue
      - Construction of cable ducts for street lighting
      - Construction of a tele-technical duct system in the area of Żołnierza Polskiego Square,
      - Installation of foundations for railway poles – Rodła Square
      - Situational and altitude staking of designed underground utilities and road and track construction
      - Construction of road structure and substructure layers – the area of Niebuszewo Station terminus and at the section of Boguchwały – Kadłubka Streets.
      - Paving work within the Rondo Sybiraków and at Asnyka Street to Niebuszowo Station terminus
      - Construction of road subgrades for pavements – Rondo Sybiraków
      - Construction of a tram platform within Matejki Street (two sides) and completion of the platform at Żołnierza Polskiego Square – pavers, continuation
      - Pavers in the area of the junction with Mazowiecka Street – setting up edging, construction of pavement
      - Pavers on the pedestrian crossing at the junction of Matejki Street / Piłsudskiego Street
      - Re-surfacing of pavements between Mazowiecka and Małopolska Street and in the place of water system connection at Matejki Street
      - Construction of traction foundations and installation of poles, redevelopment of traction cable in the area of Małopolska Street

      ABOUT THE TASK

      This is one of the largest investment projects in our city, and certainly the most logistically complicated task being carried out in Szczecin. The project of the redevelopment of the train tracks together with the traction network within 3 Niepodległości Avenue – Żołnierza Polskiego Square – Matejki – Wyzwolenia Avenue – Rodła Square –Giedroycia Roundabout – Niebuszewo Station assumes the improvement of tram infrastructure on a consolidated section of approximately 8 kilometres of single track, but will also respond comprehensively to the needs of passengers of public transport, pedestrians, cyclists and drivers. It will improve their comfort and safety. The task is intricate and demanding, it has been divided into several stages.

      The scope of works includes:

      - redevelopment of the tracks at Niepodległości Street and Wyzwolenia Avenue to Giedroycia Roundabout, 
      - redevelopment of the tracks within Kołłątaja and Asnyka Streets,
      - redevelopment of the Niebuszowo Station terminus,
      - redevelopment of the tracks within Żołnierza Polskiego Square, Matejki Street and Piłsudskiego Street,
      - redevelopment of Rodła and Żołnierza Polskiego Squares,
      - redevelopment of the tracks together with the traction network in the separation zone in separated sections and redevelopment of the entire street in sections of the tracks built into the roadway (a total of approximately 8034 metres of single track),
      - giving priority to public transport on the entire section by implementing bus and tram lanes,
      - construction of Vienna-style tram strops/redevelopment of stop platforms,
      - integration of bus and tram stops,
      - facilitating changes, improving passenger comfort,
      - construction of separate parking spaces,
      - construction of cycle lanes,
      - redevelopment of pavements and access roads,
      - redevelopment of the traction network,
      - redevelopment of street lighting,
      - redevelopment of traffic lights and a change in traffic organisation.

      We also remind you that the contractor – ZUE S.A has 720 calendar days from the date of signing the contract for the task entitled “Redevelopment of the railway track with the traction network from Żołnierza Square to the Niebuszowo terminus and within Żołnierza Polskiego Square – Matejki Street – Piłsudzkiego Street (to Rodła Square)”. The value of the contract is PLN 174,429,663.24.
