Scandinavian Days 2025 starting this week

Sustainable development, innovative solutions, and international cooperation are the pillars of Scandinavian Days, due to start next week on 7 May in Szczecin. The guiding theme for this year’s 11th edition is “blue economy – a sea of possibilities”.

      The second decade of cooperation

There are more than 200 companies with Scandinavian capital in Szczecin alone, and the number is growing year by year. Businesses from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland operate here in a range of industries, including most notably maritime, manufacturing, technology, offshore, logistics, and transport. Hence, focusing on the blue economy – economic activities associated with maritime and coastal areas – is a natural choice.

“Our ports are open to our neighbours in the north, and it is quite evident, with the bulk of foreign investment in Szczecin coming from Scandinavian countries. This cooperation drives the growth of not only our city, but also our region and the country,” said Mayor of Szczecin Piotr Krzystek.

What is more, through these strong collaborative relationships, we can swiftly align with the changing needs of not only markets, but also of our residents. Indeed, Nordic countries help to upgrade our infrastructure, create jobs, and propel the green transition. It is primarily from our northern neighbours that we draw  inspiration to implement up-to-date waste management, energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions.

       Key events

While Scandinavian Days naturally focus on business-related matters and the labour market, educational and cultural events are an important component of the programme as well. Each year, entrepreneurs and residents are invited to participate in debates, meetings, discussion panels, art shows, screenings, and exhibitions.

“We are consistent and increasingly bold in building our position on the sustainable development map. And Scandinavian Days are foundational to this goal,” said Michał Przepiera, Deputy Mayor of Szczecin.

Held between 7 and 11 May, this year's  Scandinavian Days will feature, among others, an expert discussion panel on the blue economy, a networking event with top business and diplomatic figures, and Oxford-style debates featuring students from Szczecin's secondary schools.

Let’s join the Picnic by the Oder!

For the first time in history, Scandinavian Days events will also be part of the Picnic by the Oder. On the weekend (10 and 11 May), the “Scandinavian Alley” will be created on the terrace at the Centaur Monument (facing the National Museum in Szczecin’s building) to provide residents and tourists with a space to relax and recharge. Offering an amazing view onto Łasztownia, the Scandinavian Alley will provide seats and deckchairs, catering options, and fun activities, all wrapped up in a unique atmosphere.

Scandinavian Days 2025 will be held between 7 and 11 May at Technopark Pomerania and Fabryka Wody in Szczecin.
