Sailing holidays with the Sailing Centre

Summer by the water. Sounds good, doesn't it? And summer by the water in the company of sails, extraordinary people and lots of activities? Sounds even better! It is time to start an active summer holiday at the Sailing Centre. A lot has been going on since the first days of summer.

School certificates have been collected, so you can focus on your pleasures. Take a break from studying and start a sailing adventure. And here, too, there will be a lot of new knowledge and skills to acquire. As every year, the Sailing Centre has prepared a wide range of active leisure activities for children and young people.

      Camps

On Saturday, 26 June, the first sailing camp for children and youngsters over 11 years old started. Participants stay overnight in a youth hostel, take part in sailing training, test their newly acquired skills on skippers, DZ (DeZeta) - a deckless rowing-sailing dinghy yacht, ten-sailed, and in kayaks. At the coming weekend, other camps are starting, this time with sleeping in tents. Also this Saturday, adults will set off on a continuation of the Baltic 100 expedition, a sea rafting trip from Świnoujście to Gdynia organised to celebrate the centenary of the Independent Republic of Poland. This year, the participants will sail along the Łeba - Gdynia route.

      Summer play centre

Half-term camps are starting next Monday. This year, as many as seven dates of five-day rest by the water will be available. Our camp participants will learn how to spend time actively and safely by the water. Qualified instructors will teach how to weave ropes, striking the ship’s bell and tie knots. During breaks, brunch and lunch will be served to the participants, and on the last day - a bonfire with sausages. The classes are held from Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and are organised in line with current regulations concerning recreation for children and youngsters, as well as the guidelines of the Main Sanitary Inspectorate, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education in Szczecin.

      Training

Being a real sea dog requires not only a love for wind and water, but also a licence. These can be obtained by enrolling in courses and training sessions run at the Sailing Centre. You can choose between motorboat courses and yacht sailor training. During the summer holidays, young people aged 14-17 are invited to take part in a holiday course to become a yachtsman, which is organised in the form of a summer play centre with catering. Detailed information can be found on the website www.centrumzeglarskie.pl under the training tab.

      Regattas all season long

Holidays are an intensive time for the competitors. Young sailors almost every weekend take part in regattas and go to training camps by water regions throughout Poland and Europe. Currently, members of the Szczecin Regatta Team are participating in 2010 Laser European Championships in Croatia. At the Sailing Centre you will also be able to observe sailing struggles. In July we invite you to the Coconut Regatta in Windsurfing. The regatta will be held in BIC Techno 293 4.0, 5.8, 6.8, 7.8 categories. The regatta of the Polish Optimist Class Association under the age of 13 has already become a tradition. As in previous years, Szczecin will welcome the best "optimists" in the country who will fight for the title of the Polish Champion or PSKO (the Polish Optimist Class Association) Polish Champion under the age of 13. The best professional sailors in the country will compete in the Polish Sailing Premier League and 1st League. You can also count on sports emotions during the Polish Match Tour, which will be held in September.
