Return of tramline 6 to Wyszyńskiego Street

This Saturday, the tramline 6 will return to its permanent route. There will also be facilitation for drivers. The works on Wyszyńskiego Street are entering their final phase, and their completion is planned, according to the agreement, at the end of January.

Following the completion of the next stage of reconstruction of the crossroads of Wyszyńskiego Street - Nabrzeże Wieleckie, from 12.12.2020, tram traffic will be restored in the course of Nabrzeże Wieleckie Street.

The following changes in the functioning of public transport are introduced:

      - Tramline 6 will operate on the fixed route according to the new timetables without any frequency changes.

      - The replacement bus service - line 806 - will be closed down.

      - The permanent location of the “Wyszyńskiego” bus stop for lines 70 and 526 in the direction of the Main Railway Station will be restored (on Nabrzeże Wieleckie Street behind the crossing with Wyszyńskiego Street).

      - The departure and exit routes of lines 3 and 12 in relation to the Golęcin depot <> Las Arkoński / Niebuszewo Railway Station - will be implemented via a new route, from Firlika Street through Jana z Kolna Street - Nabrzeże Wieleckie Street - Wyszyńskiego Street.

      - The departure and exit routes of line 8 in relation to the Pogodno depot <> Gumieńce - will again be run through Dworcowa Street.

      - Communication between line 5 and line 6 from Gocław is restored.

For drivers, another stage of temporary traffic organisation will be introduced in order to finish work in the around-the-rail area. It will be possible to turn left from the Long Bridge through the so-called Ucho Sternickiego. One lane for driving towards the Port Gate will remain closed.

The scope of reconstruction of the “Wyszyński” junction included, among other things: reconstruction of tram and road infrastructure, lighting and partly underground utilities.

“The improvements will also be noticeable for public transport passengers thanks to the new stops and reconstruction of platforms,” informs Hanna Pieczyńska, Spokesperson of Tramwaje Szczecińskie. “Works are also performed on the roadway, pavements and cycle path. Underground networks are being rebuilt and new elements such as steering and heating of switches and lubrication system will appear in tram infrastructure”.

Along the Nabrzeże Wieleckiego railway track will run along the existing track. In the course of Wyszyńskiego Street, a two-way bus and tram lane has been designed, while an additional two-way tram connection in the direction of Wyszyńskiego - Stocznia Szczecińska has appeared on the track. The length of the designed tracks is nearly 1150 metres of single track.

The works at the “Wyszyński” and “Szarych Szeregów” junction are performed by ZUE S.A. for the amount of 44,894,559.07.

This task is implemented under the project entitled: “Reconstruction of tram tracks in Szczecin - stage II” (subsidy agreement no. POIS.06.01.00-00-016/16-00) under Measure 6.1 Development of Collective Public Transport in Cities, Priority axis VI, Development of Low-Emission Collective Transport in Cities of the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment.
