Return of the trams to the “Głębokie” loop
Marta Kufel

One of the essential stages of the construction of the Głębokie Interchange has been completed. From next Tuesday, i.e. 1 December this year, tram traffic will be restored to the “Głębokie” loop.
On Friday morning, the tests of the newly built infrastructure - tracks, switches, overhead contact line, tram stops - were completed. The tram’s successful technical journey means that the loop is ready to accept public transport traffic. Approximately 1.1 km of a single tram track has been built as part of the works on the loop so far, as well as door-to-door tram and bus platforms.
In the next stages of the investment, a crossroads adjacent to the loop will be rebuilt into a roundabout crossroads. There will also be a car park. Additionally, on the loop, there will be a building which will serve as a waiting room for passengers and a social room for drivers and motorists.
Public transport
According to the fact that the traffic of public transport vehicles on the new “Głębokie” loop is allowed as of 1.12.2020, there will be some changes in the routes of lines 1, 9, 51, 103, 106 and 121.
1. Tram lines 1 and 9 will be restored to the “Głębokie” loop according to the new timetables. The frequency of trams will remain unchanged. The “Zajezdnia Pogodno” stops No. 31214 and 31215 are re-qualified on “request stops”.
2. Buses of lines 51, 103, 106 and 121 will be introduced on the new loop. The timetable for these lines will not change.
3. Buses of line 529 in both directions will stop at stops located on the roadway of Wojska Polskiego Avenue (previous stops for substitute line 809).
4. The substitute bus line 809 will be closed down.
5. Communication on the “Głębokie” loop between tram and bus lines will be returned.
The following organisation of stops on the “Głębokie” loop will apply:
1. outer track - line 9 (No. 31751),
2. centre track - line 1 (No. 31752),
3. internal track - reserve (No. 31753),
4. external platform - line 103 at the beginning of the platform, i.e. from the Police side (No. 31741),
5. external platform - line 106 at the end of the platform, i.e. from the centre (No. 31740),
6. central platform - line 51 (No. 31742),
7. inner platform - line 121 (No. 31743).
About the investment
The investment includes the construction of a tram and bus loop and reconstruction of the surrounding road system. As part of the reconstruction of the intersection of Wojska Polskiego Avenue with Zegadłowicza Street, Kupczyka Street and Miodowa Street, a four-way turbine roundabout will be developed. The access streets to the new roundabout, including nearly 2 km of Kupczyka Street, will be modernised. There will be new pavements and bicycle paths. The investment will also include the construction of a car park with preservation of the values of the forest car park and the surrounding tree stand.
The contractor of the investment is Strabag Sp. z o.o. The cost of the works is over PLN 65.8 million gross. The investment is supervised by Szczecin Municipal Investments.
The project is co-financed under the Integrated Territorial Investments Strategy of the Szczecin Metropolitan Area.
