      PLN 100 million for Międzyodrze

The City of Szczecin has received PLN 100 million for its project designed to enhance the accessibility of the Port in Szczecin and the redevelopment of the road system in Międzyodrze. Today, an agreement was signed at the Centre for EU Transport Projects to support this project.

Today, we are completing an important formality. With these funds secured, we can safely proceed with this project,"  said Michał Przepiera, Deputy Mayor of the City of Szczecin.  "The redevelopment of roads in Międzyodrze is a major project for the development of the City and the Port. It will improve security, enhance mobility between Łasztownia and city centre, and considerably improve transit to the Port in Szczecin, which is crucial. Now, we are preparing to launch new tender procedures.

The project has been divided into stages. Currently, Górnośląska St. is being redeveloped, and a tender procedure is pending to select the contractor for the redevelopment of the Estakada Pomorska overpass. Tender procedures under development cover the redevelopment of other streets, e.g.  the Energetyków Roundabout, Władysława IV St., and the redevelopment of some roads in the Port, including  Kujota and Hryniewieckiego Streets. The amount of EU support from the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme is PLN 100 million.

The project is being implemented by Szczecińskie Inwestycje Miejskie.

      Road system in Międzyodrze

The redevelopment of the road system in Międzyodrze is one of the key local transport projects, and will be implemented in Szczecin over the next few years. The project is to improve transport safety and organisation, and to provide transport services for the Szczecin port. The project will help upgrade such streets as  Gdańska, Energetyków, and Górnośląska. And the road system in Łasztownia will be redeveloped to connect it with Nabrzeże Wieleckie via the Most Kłodny bridge.

The new bridge will be built near the Trasa Zamkowa route as a link between the City Centre and the redeveloped Łasztownia. It will have a shroud structure, with an approximately 100m-high pylon and 24 supporting ropes. The bridge will be open to pedestrians, cyclists, cars, and trams. And its design will support top-class navigability.
