      More than a thousand surprising finds discovered at the Municipal Stadium construction site

      Although the Second World War ended many years ago, we still come across relics from that period. Old German shells, shell casings and cartridges from the war period have been unearthed many times at the construction site of the Municipal Stadium in Szczecin.

      Since the beginning of the construction works, there have been a dozen or so sapper-unit interventions on the site. You never know exactly what these things are and how dangerous they may be to the people and surrounding area. Therefore, until potentially dangerous materials are taken away and the area around the find is thoroughly checked, work on the site is stopped every time.

      Most of the surprise finds have been discovered during the construction of the new stands - in the southern and western parts of the stadium. The start of construction works on the eastern stand ahead of schedule has also contributed to repeated interventions of the sapper unit.

      So far, more than 1000 shells, cartridges, shell casings and other potentially dangerous materials have been transported from the construction site, including:

      • A-type artillery shells (up to 75 mm) - 583 pieces;
      • B-type artillery shells (from 76 mm up to 105 mm) - 271 pieces;
      • Anti-personnel grenade - 36 pieces;
      • Hand grenades - 23 pieces;
      • Other (cartridges, shell casings, ballistic caps) - 166 pieces.

      The project is implemented by the Consortium: Stadion Szczecin Korporacja Budowlana DORACO Sp. z o.o. Sp. J. under the supervision of Szczecińskie Inwestycje Miejskie Sp. z o.o.
