      More funds for Międzyodrze

An additional PLN 120 million will increase the subsidy for the project related to the improvement of accessibility to the Port of Szczecin and the reconstruction of the road system in Międzyodrze. The relevant documents on this matter have been signed with the Centrum Unijnych Projektów Transportowych (the Center for EU Transport Projects).

Increasing the pool of subsidy means meeting the budget assumptions of the City of Szczecin in terms of planned property income. The city, counting on an increase in funding, managed to include relevant entries in the budget in advance. Owing to additional funds, the total amount of subsidy from the European Union from the Operational Program Infrastructure and Environment (Program Operacyjny Infrastruktura i Środowisko) for the implementation of the project will amount to a maximum of PLN 220 879 574.95. The subsidy amount depends on the value of eligible expenditure incurred in the course of the investment implementation.

The investment is already in the implementation phase and has been divided into stages. Construction works on the reconstruction of Górnośląska Street and on the reconstruction of the Estakada Pomorska (Pomeranian Estacade) are currently underway. At the same time, two further tendering procedures are in progress. One is related to the reconstruction of the road system in the area of  Górnośląska Street, the other is related to the reconstruction of the road system in the area of Hryniewieckiego and Kujota Streets. The bids submitted by construction companies are being analyzed in both proceedings.

      Road layout in Międzyodrze

The reconstruction of the road system in Międzyodrze is one of the largest communication investments that will be implemented in Szczecin in the coming years. The project aims to improve safety and traffic organization as well as to provide transport services for the Szczecin port. The task will include modernization of, among others, streets: Gdańska, Energetyków, Górnośląska, Hryniewieckiego.

In the following years, the road system in Łasztownia (a river island) will also change, namely, it will be connected with the Nabrzeże Wieleckie (Wieleckie Quay) by the Most Kłodny (the Log Bridge). The new crossing will be located near the Trasa Zamkowa (Castle Route) and will connect the City Center with the area of the revitalized Łasztownia. It will be a cable-stayed structure with a pylon approximately 100 meters high and 24 ropes supporting the platform. Pedestrians, cyclists, cars and trams will move across the bridge. The design will also allow for the highest class of navigability.
