Jana Pawła II Avenue in redevelopment

Pavements and the roadway made of paving stone are beginning to take shape. Jana Pawła II Avenue is taking a new level, at the same time retaining its atmosphere and impressing with its historic qualities. The works on the construction site are progressing, and pedestrians are being able to use more fragments of the pavement.

The advancement of the works varies depending on the section.

“The contractor has the most to do in the Niedziałkowskiego – Felczaka section, where the existing street paving and the central reserve were disassembled, and gutter inlets and excavation to formation of lanes were performed, along with stabilisation and aggregate sub-base,” said Hanna Pieczyńska, the press spokesperson of the Roads and Public Transport Authority. “This is also where the street paving is being laid. Paviors have hands full of work, and changes are also visible in the part where the cycling path is being built.

      About the task

A new roadway structure made of paving stone is planned on Jana Pawła II Avenue, along with walkways made of large granite slabs and the asphalt cycling path. Intersection will also be made of paving stone, with a colour contrasting with the stone paid in the sections between intersections. Parallel parking will be possible on one side of parking lanes. In locations where drivers tend to park their vehicles in violation of the parking rules, protective bollards will be installed. Just like the original cycling path, the new one was designed in the central reserve between the lanes. After the redevelopment, bicycle racks, benches and new dust bins will be installed, and new trees will be planted.

The redevelopment of Jana Pawła II in the section from Felczaka Street to Grunwaldzki Square includes in particular:

      - roadway redevelopment,

      - pavements redevelopment,

      - street lighting redevelopment,

      - conflicting utilities redevelopment,

      - introducing a permanent traffic arrangement,

      - performing structural landscaping and arranging green areas,

      - water supply grid redevelopment,

      - no-dig rehabilitation of sewage pipes.

Contractor –  CONSORTIUM LEADER: Roverpol Sp. z o.o., CONSORTIUM PARTNER: Rover Infraestructuras S.A. has 16 months to complete the task. The contractual  deadline for the completion of the project worth PLN 23,862,000.00 gross is in the second half of October 2021.
