Intersection reconstruction begins in Walecznych Street

Works related to the reconstruction of the intersection of Walecznych - Mączna - Pszenna Streets in Szczecin are due to start this Thursday. For drivers, this means big changes and diversions. We also ask pedestrians and passengers of public transport to be particularly careful.

Temporary traffic arrangement for the time of works will involve the full closure of the intersection for car traffic. The passage will be retained for public transport and emergency services. The diversion is marked from Ułanów Polskich Roundabout, along Batalionów Chłopskich, Gryfińska, and Struga Streets, the service road in Struga Street, Łubinowa and Handlowa Streets up to the Ronalda Reagana Roundabout.

Bus stops will be prepared in such a way that passengers of public transport can safely pass through the construction site.

“The reconstruction is to introduce a permanent roundabout, and thus improve the safety and ease of joining the traffic, as well as increasing the capacity for connections subordinate to the entrance of Mączna Street,” says Hanna Pieczyńska, spokesman for ZDiTM [Road and Public Transport Authority], “It is also important to calm traffic and improve safety along Walecznych – Pszenna Streets.”

The scope of work to be performed:

- Reconstruction of road surfaces,

- Reconstruction of sidewalks,

- Reconstruction of interesecting service infrastructure,

- Introduction of permanent traffic arrangement plan,

- Placement of street furniture and greenery,

- Reconstruction of the water supply network,

- Trenchless renovation of the sanitary sewage system,

- Reconstruction of the rainwater drainage system,

- Construction of a heating network with along with ICT cable ducts.

The task is carried out jointly by 4 ordering parties: ZWiK (The Waterworks and Sewage System Company) - ZDiTM (Roads and Public Transport Authority) - WGK (Public Utilities Department)- SEC (Szczecin Energy Technology Company). The contractor, the company Ben-Bruk Sp. z o.o. will have 7 months to perform the works, which are worth PLN 4,104,312.22 gross.
