Housing associations merged

Marta Kufel

Today, on 4 January 2021, the Szczeciński TBS and TBS Prawobrzeże housing associations completed their merger. Formally, it was confirmed by an entry in the National Court Register.
From now on, the companies will operate under the name Szczecińskie Towarzystwo Budownictwa Społecznego.
The merger is executed in the least burdensome way possible for residents and tenants of commercial premises. For this reason, they do not incur any costs associated with, for example, amending their leases, nor do they need to spend additional time on formalities.
The merger does not complicate rental payments or contacts with estate and building administrators. On the day of the merger, all account numbers used for settlements as well as the contact numbers of the building administrators remain unchanged.
How does customer service functions in practice?
All tenants of the new company are supported by two points, depending on their place of residence:
- Prawobrzeże area – at 11f Winogronowa Street (former head office of TBS Prawobrzeże)
- Lewobrzeże area – at 1a Bohaterów Getta Warszawskiego Street (current head office of Szczeciński TBS).
The division is natural and clearer than before. The Oder River forms the boundary between the areas. As a result, previous clients of TBS Prawobrzeże who reside on Lewobrzeże, e.g. in the housing estate at Sowińskiego Street or in the buildings at Śląska Street, no longer have to travel to Prawobrzeże to get official business done.
The customer service point at 24 Mariacka Street will remain open until 28 February 2021. After that date, the customer service point will be relocated to 1a Bohaterów Getta Warszawskiegogo Street.
How will things be arranged after the merger?
- Rent payments – payments will be made to the same accounts and on the same dates as before.
- Contact for operational and technical matters:
– Prawobrzeże area, 11F Winogronowa Street, phone 91 46 13 692, for residents of Prawobrzeże.
– Lewobrzeże area, 1a Bohaterów Getta Warszawskiego Street, phone 91 430 91 00, for residents of the Lewobrzeże.
For clients of Szczeciński TBS (before the merger), contacts and procedures do not change.
All information and assistance can be obtained by calling the following telephone numbers
- 91 430 91 00,
- 91 46 14 469
or at the following e-mail addresses:

Residents affected by the merger-related changes have received leaflets regarding this matter in their letterboxes. Additionally, posters informing about the merger are displayed in the staircases of buildings administered by TBS Prawobrzeże. Announcements on this matter will also be made on the websites of the City and the companies, as well as in the local press.
The decision to merge TBS Prawobrzeże and Szczeciński TBS was taken under a resolution of the City Council on 25 June 2019.
The most important reasons for the merger are:
To improve the quality of service for residents, facilitate and accelerate procedures. The same standards and principles are to apply regardless of location.
Create greater opportunities to apply for external funding for revitalisation measures, especially in the city centre. Create an opportunity to use funds not only from sources dedicated to housing investments.
Merging staff teams from both companies will allow better functioning in terms of e.g. carrying out projects (especially in the current circumstances on the labour market).
New Szczecińskie TBS in figures:
- 7,920 residential units as own resource,
- 328 commercial units as own resource,
- 2,630 municipal housing units under management,
- 216 municipal commercial units under management,
- 569 managed/administered housing associations,
- 4,307 ownership units in housing association buildings,
