      Holiday fun with the library in Szczecin

      The summer holidays are a time for fantastic summer adventures. Not everyone goes to the mountains or the seaside though. However, all is not lost! Lots of attractions await you in Szczecin. The City Public Library has prepared a special holiday offer for young residents of Szczecin.

      And what does the programme include? Plenty of unique activities! During this summer we will be travelling over land and sea with Nela the Reporter, playing detectives and solving the most difficult puzzles. We have also prepared a variety of art and photography workshops for you. And if you like nature you can become experts at identifying trees and insects, or even try yourselves as gardeners. The summer offer also includes coding classes and board and console game tournaments, during which you will be able to compete and win fantastic prizes.

      Detailed information regarding the respective activities prepared by the City Public Library branches can be found below.

      Branch No. 3 for children (15 Zofii Nałkowskiej Street)

      When: 11.07, 13.07, 15.07 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

      Travels with Nela – the Little Reporter

      First meeting. 11 July (Monday) from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
      To get to know each other better, our holiday fun will start with traditional board games, which are loved by the youngest but also by older children. They also provide entertainment and bring participants together, teaching healthy competition and cooperation.

      Second meeting. 13 July (Wednesday) from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
      Let’s go to Africa together with Nela, the Little Reporter, who, in her book on Safari, describes the land of animals and plants and the people who live there. By reading the brave author’s account together, we will learn about the games that African children play and we will make African masks and traditional necklaces.

      Third meeting. 15 July (Friday) from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
      This time Nela’s books will take us to the pirate galleons which are sunk off the Caribbean coast with their chests full of treasures.

      Activities for children aged 7-13 years.

      WHEN: Every holiday Friday at 1:00 p.m. Starting from 1 July

      Fun with professions!

      This year’s holiday meetings are aimed at our the youngest readers, who are not yet quite sure what profession they would like to pursue in the future. And choosing this single and most important activity is by no means easy. There are so many interesting professions and, after all, each one is needed and new professions are constantly being created and others are going out of date.

      We therefore invite you to join us every holiday Friday for a reading workshop during which we will learn together about the nature of many professions. We promise lots of great and interesting fun activities.

      Workshops designed for children aged 5-9 years.

      Branch No. 7 (8 Matki Teresy z Kalkuty Square)

      WHEN: 12.07, 25.07, 26.07, 27.07, 28.07 at 1:00 p.m.
      01.08, 02.08, 03.08, 04.08, 05.08 at 1:00 p.m.

      Performance “In the Wild West” (12.07 at 1:00 p.m.)
      We will begin our summer attractions with theatre. We have invited to our branch the Kark-Art Theatre Studio from Krakow, who have already visited us with their performance of the Snow Queen. This time they will visit us with their performance In the Wild West.
      The performance is intended for children aged 6-10 years.

      Artistic Mondays” (25.07, 1.08 at 1:00 p.m.)
      During the art classes, we will be looking for ways to hold on to holiday memories and dreams for longer. If artistic creativity is what you like to do, we encourage you to come and unleash your creativity.
      25.07 classes for children aged 4-6 years.
      1.08 classes for children aged 7-9 years.

      “Eco Tuesdays” (26.07, 2.08 at 1:00 p.m.)
      For all young nature lovers who care for the environment, we have prepared something really special! During ecologically-focused classes for younger children, we will talk about recycling and its importance for the planet and, during short workshops, make vases using recycled materials with our own hands. The following week we will meet with the older children and together we will take care of the library plants, which later can be taken home.
      26.07 classes for children aged 5-6 years.
      2.08 classes for children aged 6-8 years.

      “Photo Wednesdays” (27.07, 3.08 at 1:00 p.m.)
      During the photography classes, we will find out that even with a simple smartphone model you can take a surprisingly good photo. We are going to learn the principles of composition and framing, we will also show you how to take flat lay photos and make your photos eye-catching and stand out from the rest.
      Classes for young people aged 13-16 years.

      “Board Thursdays” (28.07, 4.08 at 1:00 p.m.)
      We invite everyone who will find themselves in team games. During our meetings, you will have a chance to get  to know the games from the library collections. We will divide into groups, learn the rules and play a game together.
      Classes for children aged 6-9 years.

      “Console Tournament” (5.08 at  1:00p.m.)
      At the end of the holiday adventures in the library, we organise a console tournament for you, during which everyone will be able to test their skills and see if fortune favours them.
      We have prepared small gifts for the winners.
      Tournament for children aged 10-12 years.

      For all classes, children do not need to bring anything with them except for good mood and a positive attitude. Alternatively, if the temperature outside is high, be sure to bring a bottle of water.

      You must register your child separately for each day of activities. Admission to all attractions is free of charge. We would like to ask you to carefully check the date and time, as well as the age restrictions.

      Branch No. 9 for children (27/2 Księżnej Anastazji Street)

      WHEN: 12-15 July from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

      “Riddle holidays – play detective and find the solution to a mysterious riddle”.

      We will hear 10 mysterious stories in which we will have to work together to find the solution, using our imagination, logical thinking and in some cases our knowledge. We will go back to the time of the cavemen, to the Wild West, but we will also be looking for clues in modern times. So, if you would like to become a real detective for a while and have a lot of fun then fascinating stories full of riddles await you.

      Classes for children aged 6-10 years.

      WHEN: 26.07, 28.07 from 1:15 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

      “Encoding images” 26.07, 28.07 from 1:15 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
      With the help of a coding mat we will conjure up images, which we will later save using given coordinates. To make it more challenging, we will be decoding the images. Classes for children aged 7-9 years.

      “Paint with us” 9.08, 11.08, 18.08, 23.08, 25.08 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
      With just a cardboard and paint fun is guaranteed. If you come to us, you will find out what you can create from such simple things. Classes for children aged 7-9 years.

      WHEN: 14 and 28 July, 11 August (Thursday) at 2:00 p.m.

      On the trail of Pomeranian legends” 21, 4 and 18 August at 2:00 p.m.
      We will learn about the legends of our region. We will take part in art workshops and theatre games.
      Children aged 7-10 years are invited.

      “Holiday board game tournament” 21 July, 4 and 18 August at 2 p.m.
      We invite board games lovers to participate in tournaments that will be held in our library. We will be practicing memory, cleverness, teamwork skills and developing imagination.
      We invite everyone aged 7-14 years.

      WHEN: 5, 7, 12, 14 July at 1:00 p.m.

      „Szczecin legends for the youngest” 5, 7, 12, 14 July at 1:00 p.m.
      We invite little lovers of legends and the world of fables (3-6 years old) to take a trip on a time machine to the times when princes and knights would walk through the Szczecin castle and witches would cast their spells. We will be reading, painting, making magic and having a great fun.
      Classes for children aged 3-6 years.

      “Gardening workshops for children” 2, 3, 9, 10 August at 1:00 p.m.
      Nature lovers (8-13 years old) are invited to participate in classes that combine education and fun. Together we will learn how to plant, water and take care of plants and the environment. We will get expert badges for identifying trees, flowers and insects.
      Ukrainian children are also welcome to attend (a bilingual person will be available).
      Classes for children aged 8-13 years.
