Enrolment to primary schools and state-owned kindergartens

Early spring in Szczecin is a period when most enrolment procedures to educational institutions begin. This year, enrolment to first grades of primary schools, state-owned kindergartens and kindergarten sections in primary schools will commence on 1 March.

As in previous years, in order to have the child enrolled to a facility of their choice, parents can use the following website: https://nabor.pcss.pl/szczecin/. The website provides, among other things, information on individual facilities and the services they offer.

      Enrolment to kindergartens

This year’s enrolment for vacant places in kindergartens will start on 1 March. The deadline for completing the application form and submitting the required set of documents is 18 March.

Enrolment to kindergartens is open to children born in 2016-2019 (i.e., currently aged 3-6), who live, together with their parents, in the Szczecin City Commune. Of note is the fact that only those children who have not yet attended state-owned kindergartens or kindergarten sections in primary schools, or those willing to change the facility, need to take part in the enrolment procedure.

Enrolment to first grades of primary schools

Enrolment to first grades of Szczecin’s primary schools will also begin on 1 March. It will mainly cover children born in 2015 (i.e., currently aged 7), who are bound to fulfil their schooling obligation. Parents may also decide to send to primary school their 6-year-old children (born in 2016).

At the parent’s request, a child who turns 6 in a given calendar year may commence primary school education subject to providing an opinion regarding the child’s readiness to commence such education, issued by a psychological and pedagogical counselling centre. Moreover, a 6-year-old child can also commence primary school education if he/she has attended pre-school education during the school year preceding the year in which he/she is to be enrolled to primary school. Please note that no opinion issued by the counselling centre is required in the latter case.
