Enrolment for 1st grades and kindergartens is open

Spring is coming soon, which means the start of enrolment for schools and kindergartens.  Parents can enrol their children for first grades of primary schools and for state kindergartens and kindergarten units in primary schools.

As in previous years, in order to enrol a child in a selected facility, parents can use the website https://nabor.pcss.pl/szczecin/. There, you will also find, among other things, information on individual facilities and their educational packages.

      Enrolment for kindergartens

Due to the current epidemic situation, ongoing vaccinations of teachers and a high absenteeism of employees, in particular of kindergartens and kindergarten units in primary schools, it has become necessary to change the dates of enrolment procedures established in accordance with Order No. 35/21 of the Mayor of Szczecin of 22 January 2021 pursuant to Article 154 of the Act of 14 December 2016 – Education Law.

This year's enrolment starts on 4 March 2021.  Parents will have until 24 March this year to complete the application and submit all documents.

Kindergarten enrolment is open to children born in 2015-2018 (i.e. aged 3-6) and living with their parents in the Szczecin Municipality.   It should be emphasised that only those children who have not yet attended state kindergartens or kindergarten units in primary schools or those who wish to change their school will take part in the enrolment.

Enrolment for 1st grades of primary schools

On 1 March 2021 enrolment began for 1st grades of Szczecin's primary schools.  It concerns mainly children born in 2013, now 7-year-olds, who are subject to compulsory education.  However, parents can also enrol 6-year-old children (born in 2015) into the first grade of primary school.

At the request of parents, a child who turns 6 in a given calendar year can start education at a primary school if they have an approval for commencing primary school education issued by a psychological and pedagogical counselling centre. The second case in which a 6-year-old children can commence education at school is when the child attended pre-school education during the school year preceding the school year in which they are to commence education at a primary school.  What is important, in this case no opinion of a counselling centre is required.

Another option for parents of 6-year-old children is to enrol their child into a pre-school unit functioning in a primary school.  This is an excellent solution which will allow the child to prepare gradually for the start of school, and furthermore guarantees the same care as kindergartens – food, adequate care (also during winter and holiday breaks and holidays), as well as conditions adapted to the needs of the youngest.
