Coronavirus #88 – kindergartens during the summer break
Robert Duchowski

Changes in the on-call rules, children’s stay only in the home institution and limited number of individual groups. This is how, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, this year's holidays will look like in Szczecin kindergartens.
This year, during the summer break, caring for the youngest in kindergartens and pre-school departments functioning in primary schools will look slightly different than before. This is the aftermath of the COVID-19 epidemic, which forced a change in the rules of functioning of many places, institutions and facilities.
In response to the numerous requests from parents of Szczecin preschoolers, it was decided that during this year's holiday break kindergartens and preschool departments will operate in the form of holiday shifts, according to the changed rules.
First of all, only those children who attend the particular institution on a daily basis will be admitted to there. This will increase security by avoiding migration between different kindergartens. In accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of National Education and the Chief Sanitary Inspector, a maximum of 12 children will be allowed in each pre-school group. Importantly, only the children whose parents are professionally active and cannot provide the child’s care will be admitted to summer break care.
- The situation is still extraordinary, so we ask for your understanding. We try to approach the topic flexibly and we will do everything to ensure that as many children as possible have a day care - says Piotr Krzystek, Mayor of Szczecin.
Parents who want to take advantage of the child care during summer holidays, will have to declare this in their home kindergarten. They will also need to specify the period during which the child will stay in the facility. Importantly, priority will still be given to children of health care system employees, uniformed services, persons carrying out tasks related to the prevention and control of coronavirus, as well as employees of trade and manufacturing enterprises.
This year's summer break in Szczecin kindergartens and preschool departments will last from the 29th of June to the 28th of August 28 2020. As in previous years, holiday care will only be available to children who have already been attending particular facilities in the 2019/2020 school year. Only few facilities will be closed due to renovation works in progress. Please ask the headmasters of individual units about the details
It should also be remembered that various types of restrictions related to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic are still in force. In order to ensure the highest possible safety not only for the youngest inhabitants of Szczecin, but also for their families and employees of individual units, it is necessary to maintain an increased sanitary regime and comply with the highest precautions.
As at present, during the holidays, kindergartens and kindergarten departments will operate in accordance with the special safety procedures developed for the needs of the ongoing pandemic.
