      Christmas trees treated as biowaste

We would like to remind you that waste disposal companies will be collecting Christmas trees left by municipal waste bins until the end of March. Unlike in previous years, there is no need to report the fact of disposing of a Christmas tree to any authorities.

In line with the Resolution of the Szczecin City Council on the detailed procedure and range of services related to the collection municipal waste from real property owners and the management of such waste, between 1 December 2020 and 31 March 2021 natural Christmas trees placed next to waste disposal points will be collected in return for the paid municipal waste management fee.

“Christmas trees will be collected on the same dates as biowaste, i.e. twice a week for multifamily buildings and once every two weeks for single-family estates,” said Paulina Łątka from the City Information Centre. “Christmas trees left for collection are treated as biowaste, so all lights and decorations must be removed from them, regardless of the material they are made of.

They are collected from the disposal points, i.e. where municipal waste bins are located. There is no need to report Christmas trees to be collected at the City Office.
