On the 6th of May, after after five weeks of "quarantine" BikeS returns to the streets. The government has revoked the ban on using city bikes.
Although the epidemic continues, the government "defrosted" city bikes. According to the latest Regulation of the Council of Ministers on epidemic restrictions, the ban on using city bikes announced on the 1st of April is in force until the 5th of May 2020. This means that on the 6th of May, BikeS may return to the streets of Szczecin.
Filling the stations with bikes will start on Wednesday morning. In the city centre, there will be 350 bicycles available to registered users, and 170 bikes on right bank of the city.
On the 15th of May, the system will be complemented with 63 new bikes.
- During the repair or transport of bicycles, NiOL employees will disinfect the most often touched elements like the shifters, saddle, handlebar and terminal keyboards, but it is impossible to do it after each bike rental - says Wojciech Jachim, a spokesman for NiOL. - Therefore, NiOL city bike operator calls for special precautions.
Recommendations for BikeS users:
· while riding a bike, use disposable gloves or gloves disinfected in accordance with the recommendations of Sanitary Inspectorate. If you don't have gloves, disinfect your hands before and after renting the bike;
· while riding around the city, do not touch the face, especially the nose, eyes or mouth;
· when you reach your destination, wash your hands with soap and water.
Please remember, that at Nextbike stations (those in which the lock adapters are on the front wheel, as in the photo) bikes can be rented using the Nextbike application and QR code (i.e. without touching the terminal keyboard).
