Szczecin’s Sung Poetry – Bez Jacka

Katarzyna Jackowska

Community Centre “13 Muses”
Over the years, many well-known and talented musicians have been part of the band Bez Jacka: Wojtek Czemplik, Grzegorz Klecha, Stefan Błaszczyński, Jacek Wolski, Waldek Wiśniewski, Marek Majewski, Krzysztof Górski – and most notably, the much-missed Janek Stefański (who passed away on 14 February 1996), one of the group’s founders and leading figures.
The distinctive sound of Bez Jacka is shaped by Zbyszek’s unique vocal timbre, high-quality poetic lyrics, the rich tones of a twelve-string guitar, and a lyrical flute.
On 15 August 2009, the band’s frontman Zbigniew Maria Stefański was awarded the Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis by the Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
The band’s latest programme, "Believing in Dreams", features mostly songs from their new album, along with a few older, lesser-known pieces – and, of course, their most iconic tracks.
Line-up:
– Zbigniew Stefański – guitar, vocals, band leader
– Jarosław “Horacy” Chrząstek – flute, manager
– Wojciech Sokołowski – bass guitar
– Mariusz “Mario” Wilke – guitar
