“Space and Pause” – Konrad Turbaczewski

Katarzyna Jackowska

Marine Science Centre in Szczecin
The exhibition “Space and Pause” by Konrad Turbaczewski* is an attempt to articulate that which is most often overlooked – the moment in which nothing appears to happen, and yet, in truth, everything does.
An artist long captivated by the space that emerges between words, gestures and images, Turbaczewski works with the substance of silence, pauses, places and experiences. Each piece within the exhibition serves as a record of an encounter with absence – not an empty void, but one laden with meaning. The show offers visitors not only the chance to view the works, but also to experience the tension that arises between presence and absence.
Sometimes, it is what remains silent that speaks the loudest.
*Konrad Turbaczewski is an artist living and working in Szczecin. He began his career in photography, but now focuses primarily on materials – paint, wood and paper. His practice revolves around the ideas of repair, trace, and the coexistence of opposites. At the heart of his work is always the process – both creative and existential. For Turbaczewski, each work is an attempt to understand the world through touch, colour and texture.
The private view takes place on 7th August 2025 at the Temporary Exhibition Zone in the Maritime Science Centre (first floor) at 6pm.
