Women in the Shadow of the Canon presents works by women composers whose music remained outside the mainstream concert repertoire for many years.
The programme spans different decades of the 20th and 21st centuries, but the works share one common thread: a marginalisation that has no artistic justification. Most of the composers featured were active, respected and published in their own time, yet their music never secured a lasting place in the organ canon.
