A unique encounter with the music of the former Eastern Borderlands – a world where Polish, Ukrainian, Jewish and Austro-Hungarian traditions met, with Lviv at its centre for centuries.
The programme features works by composers connected with Lviv and, more broadly, with the lands of the former Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth: from Renaissance dances by Jan of Lublin, through the virtuosic style of Franz Xaver Mozart, known as the “Lviv Mozart”, to Romantic works by Mirecki, Wysocki, Ruckgaber and Paderewski, as well as Piotr Żelechowski’s rarely performed Fantasy.
