Use your musical imagination and create a symphony orchestra composition. The Szczecin Philharmonic has just announced the 3rd International Mieczysław Karłowicz Composers’ Competition.
This unique music event is a great chance for composers from all over the world to notch up an artistic success. The ZAiKS Authors’ Association and the Szczecin Philharmonic are to hold the International Mieczysław Karłowicz Composers’ Competition already for the third time. The previous editions, enjoying a keen interest and boasting a high level of submitted works, confirmed the prestige of the event and earned it a renowned brand in the music world.
The first competition, organised to highlight the 100th Anniversary of ZAiKS was held in 2018, without a patron. Two years later, the competition was held as the 1st International Mieczysław Karłowicz Composers’ Competition, and the 2nd edition was organised in 2022. It is by no chance that the Szczecin Philharmonic creates this unique competition together with the ZAiKS Authors’ Association. The space of the Philharmonic is an excellent place to offer the audience a fully contemporary repertoire. As in previous editions, the Grand Finale of the 3rd International Mieczysław Karłowicz Composition Competition will be a regular, ticketed concert, and the audience will be involved in selecting their favourite.
Artists are invited to take part in the 3rd International Mieczysław Karłowicz Composers’ Competition. We are expecting original works which have not been previously published, performed or awarded in other competitions. The application procedure will start on 1 June and end on 31 August 2024, said Katarzyna Plater-Zyberk, Spokesperson of the Szczecin Philharmonic.
The subject of the Competition is a symphony orchestra composition lasting 9-12 minutes.
