Żagle 2025. Sailing out into the sea of fun!

We are just over two weeks ahead of our region’s biggest sailing event. The long August weekend is shaping up to be a really busy one. Here’s a sneak peek into the programme!

Between 15 and 17 August, Szczecin's wharfs will be brimming with sailers hailing from all over Europe. Our guest vessels will be flying flags of Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, Finland, Norway, Latvia, and, naturally, Poland. A total of 30 vessels are expected to moor at the foot of the Chrobry Embankment and on Łasztownia. All of them will be open for visitors, and some will offer unique Oder cruises, providing a great opportunity to see Szczecin from the river, soak in the sailing atmosphere, and take a refreshing break from everyday routine.

Cruise tickets are available online on https://zagleszczecin.eu/rejsy.  They will also be on sale during the event at the Visit Szczecin point.

Two banks, one bridge, hundreds of attractions

The Oder will connect not only the two banks of the city, but also the people, thanks to a pontoon bridge and a rich entertainment programme. Łasztownia will have fun zones and creative workshops for children. Also, the Children’s Area will be set up near the Adam Mickiewicz monument, offering young ones real “seawolf training”, as well as a range of games and fun activities. Travelling funfairs full of carousels and thrill rides will spring up on both banks of Szczecin.

Flavours of the world and local food

“Żagle is also a culinary journey,”  said Celina Wołosz, Spokeswoman for Żegluga Szczecińska Turystyka Wydarzenia. “The food truck area and Food Port will serve dishes inspired by cuisine from all over the world, including Indian, Mexican, and Crimean-Tatar, as well as fish burgers, seafood, zapiekanki, French fries, ice cream, bao buns, grilled pork butt, bread slices with lard, and lots of other delicious food.

At the Żagle Fair, there will be vendors selling regional food, handcrafted items, ceramics, marine-themed souvenirs and eco products. All products will be one-of-a-kind and available only from our stalls. For enthusiasts of fine brews, we will have the Craft Beer Zone, with a rich selection of beers, including non-alcoholic ones, as well as beer-brewing demonstrations, tasting events, and meetings with brewers.

Sounds resonating off the water

Music is a core element of Żagle. In the 2025 edition, there will be two stages, one on each side of the Oder. The concerts will start on Thursday.

The main stage on Komandorska Street will feature Piotr Banach's double jubilee, with guest appearances by Renata Przemyk, Wojciech Waglewski, and Kamil Bednarek, among other artists. The Saturday lineup will feature Polish rap acts, and Sunday’s main stage will see performances by iconic Polish rock bands: T.Love, De Mono, and Happysad.

Opening the stage on Łasztownia will be the electrifying warmup set by the Catz’n Dogz duo, followed by sea shanties, folk, and sung poetry performances later into the event. Featured artists will include Stan Nieustalony, Dianna & Co., Fluid, Eva Sand, Jackpot Trio, Baltic Neopolis Quartet & Armand Fessard, as well as sailing bands such as Stare Dzwony, Ryczące Dwudziestki, Kapitan Grog, and Sąsiedzi.

Festival of colours and sounds

Wind orchestras and Żagle are inseparable. Bands from Poland and beyond will come to Szczecin for stage and street performances as part of the 8th Mayor of Szczecin Cup Wind Orchestra Festival. Outdoor concerts combined with parade drill shows will make the event a unique experience.

We will reveal more on the music programme this coming Monday. Żagle 2025. Come to Sailing Szczecin will be held between 15 and 17 August. For the complete event programme and more information, go to www.zagle.szczecin.eu.

Żagle 2025_Piotr Banch's jubilee guest artists – who’s playing?

Celebrating his 60th birthday and 45 years on stage! A double anniversary like this deserves to be celebrated with exceptional guests. Performing alongside Piotr Banach will be his befriended artists and long-time collaborators.

“Composer, guitarist, lyricist, producer, co-founder of Hey, frontman of Indios Bravos, and, perhaps most importantly, a non-conforming and creatively liberated artist, Piotr Banach is one of the most accomplished musicians in Poland to have come out of Szczecin,” said Celina Wołosz, Spokeswoman for Żegluga Szczecińska Turystyka Wydarzenia. “To celebrate his jubilee, he has put together a unique concert featuring artists of different generations – friends and collaborators with whom he worked at various stages of his career.

Guest appearances will include:

•         Wojciech Waglewski – Polish rock icon, leader of the Voo Voo band, known for his unique blend of rock, jazz, and folk.
•         Kuba Badach – one of Poland’s most celebrated vocalists, revered for his class, style, and the emotional depth of his interpretations.
•         Renata Przemyk – the charismatic artist whose unique brand of alternative and poetry-infused music has touched many a heart over the years.
•         Kamil Bednarek – one of Poland’s most celebrated vocalists of the younger generation, embodying positive energy and reggae spirit.
•         Olek Różanek – hailing from Szczecin, he is the leader of the Chorzy band, bringing a local element and a touch of theatrical flair to the stage.
•         Kafi Ficaj – vocalist and Badach’s long-time music companion, including as a member of the Indios Bravos band.
•         Bloco Pomerania – inspired by the Brazilian batucada, this Szczecin-based percussion orchestra will get the audience moving with their red-hot Latino rhythms.
•         Indianie – a dance show featuring Marek Ptasiński, the populariser of Native American cultures.

The “Piotr Banach i Przyjaciele” concert on Friday will take us on a journey through Banach’s 45-year music career. The Żagle stage will see different music generations come together to celebrate Piotr Banach’s jubilee. It will be an exciting evening full of memories and new sounds, offering the audience a first-hand experience of the history of Polish rock, reggae, alternative music, and music exploration.

Żagle 2025 will take place between 15 and 17 August – for more details and the full programme, go to www.zagle.szczecin.eu
