The Mediateka project is nearing completion!

The construction site of the new cultural institution has been handed over to the contractor. Mediateka (Media Library) will be built in the area of Iwaszkiewicza and Dąbrowska Streets for residents of nearby housing estates. Following the Krzemień Community Cultural Center, this is another major investment project meant to serve residents of right-bank Szczecin.
HD Construction has been selected through a tendering procedure as the contractor for the project. It is estimated that the construction of the new facility should take about a year and a half.
The Media Library building is planned as a modern facility whose scope goes beyond that of a traditional library. It will combine multiple functions, including multimedia and performance-art offerings, acting as a local cultural centre and an activity centre for residents.
This new branch of the Municipal Public Library will be delivered as a turnkey project. It will consist of three interconnected blocks, with a designed internal floor area of 2,000 m2
The reading room building (“A”), which will be used as a lending library, also provides spaces for children, for individual or group work, and for relaxation with a book or a newspaper. There will also be a place to meet or work at tables on the ground floor and a so-called quiet reading room. This is also an area for parents waiting for their children who are visiting the library. PC workstations, listening facilities and work areas for people with disabilities are also planned to be provided in this block.
From the upper storey an entrance will be provided to the open terrace above the entrance hall. The terrace will also serve as an outdoor stage with a space for audience or, for example, a forum for meetings or low-key outdoor events.
The smallest part of the building ("B") will contain, among others, sanitary and changing-room facilities, a small screening room and multimedia rooms for console video gaming and music rooms for playing instruments. The administrative part of the facility will also be located here. On the ground floor a space has been designed for commercial premises, e.g. a café.
In part "C" of the facility, a meeting room has been designed for nearly 200 people. It will consist of a cascade auditorium with fixed seats and a flat segment that can serve as a stage. The auditorium can function as a large open space, but it is also possible to divide the room by means of a mobile acoustic wall. The auditorium will be equipped with a professional sound system and basic stage technology to enable the organisation of concerts and stage performances.
It is important to note that the facility will be adapted to the needs of people with disabilities, including those who are blind or deaf.
In the vicinity of the building, a park area is planned, providing opportunities for rest or recreation, and a section with tree plantings and benches. Moreover, a car park for the users of the building will be located near this section of the building.
The public contract for the execution of construction works including the delivery and installation of equipment was announced by Szczecińskie TBS housing association, which in this case acts as project manager for the Szczecin Municipality.
