A modern library called Mediateka will be built at the intersection of Iwaszkiewicza Street and Dąbrowskiej Street. The documentation has already been prepared, the tender is coming soon, and construction will follow. An amendment to the budget will be submitted at the next session of the City Council.
The building will become a modern cultural centre. If properly developed, the Mediateka could function as an exhibition gallery, a small theatre or an arthouse.
“In addition to Dom Kultury Krzemień (a community centre), it constitutes another significant investment for the Prawobrzeże. The eagerly anticipated Mediateka will certainly serve many residents of the nearby housing estates” said Piotr Krzystek, the Mayor of Szczecin.
Mediateka is to house, among others, a library for adults with a collection of approx. 50,000 volumes, a library for children and adults, a reading room, a theatre and conference room, a computer lab and an exhibition space.
