Although the concerts are scheduled for March 2023, we are already presenting the first stars. The pre-sale of a pool of tickets at special prices has also been launched. The festival will take place from 8 to 16 March 2023.

Traditionally, the Szczecin Jazz Festival will open with the “Jazz for kids” project. It will be led by the Szczecin pianist and Academy of Arts lecturer Joanna Gajda. The special guest of the event will be Mietek Szcześniak.

Then, we will see two premieres: for the first time in Poland, ChadLefkowitz-Brown and for the first time in Szczecin, Jazzmeia Horn.
Chad LB is a saxophone phenomenon. He won the audience appreciation with the virtuosity of his performances and original improvisations. Jazzmeia Horn, in turn, is one of the most exciting vocalists in jazz, a three-time Grammy nominee. This is just part of what we have prepared for you during Szczecin Jazz 2023.

Traditionally, the Szczecin Jazz Festival will open with the “Jazz for kids” project. It will be led by the Szczecin-based pianist and Academy of Arts lecturer Joanna Gajda. The special guest of the event will be Mietek Szcześniak. Not only a dose of positive energy is in store but also a great tribute to the first editions of the concerts. Let us remind you that in 2016, Mietek Szcześniak and Joanna Gajda performed for the youngest at the Szczecin Philharmonic with a specially prepared repertoire. Borys Janczarski (saxophone), Bartosz Świątek (double bass) and Sebastian Frankiewicz (drums) will perform together with Joanna Gajda and Mietek Szcześniak. There will also be a choir composed of primary music school students. This year’s concert, which will also be an interactive performance, will consist of 12 songs – jazz standards with cheerful Polish lyrics. This will warrant a good time, but at the same time give the young audience a sense of being taken seriously. The songs, although obviously based on children’s lyrics, will showcase jazz at its truest with an original music layer and dynamics.

For the first time in Szczecin, Jazzmeia Horn.

“Jazzmeia Horn is one of the most exciting young vocalist in jazz. She combines all the qualities of legendary female vocalists such as Betty Carter, Sarah Vaughan and Nancy Wilson” – The New York Time. Jazzmeia Horn won Newark’s 2013 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Competition. Two years later, she consolidated her position as a jazz star after taking the first place in the Thelonious Monk International Vocal Jazz Competition. In 2017, she released her debut full-length album, A Social Call, published by Concord Records as part of the Monk Competition award. The album garnered praise, including a Grammy nomination; Horn also performed at the Grammy ceremony. She returned in 2019 with her second album, Love&Liberation, which included a cover of Erykah Badu’s Green Eyes. She also received a Grammy nomination for Best Jazz Vocal Album. In 2020, Horn released her first big-band track, the Grammy-nominated Dear Love, on which she worked with her 15-piece band Noble Force. Jazzmeia is one of the most distinctive voices in the contemporary jazz and her concerts are incredible musical spectacles.
