Revitalisation. More annexes to look like new

Three annexes along 34, 35 and 36 Bolesława Śmiałego St. are going to be completely remodelled. The project will also involve yard renovation. The restoration will be managed by Szczecińskie TBS, which is now looking for the contractor to handle the project. 

Annexe upgrading is another stage of renovation work in the city centre quarter No. 33, delimited by such Streets as  Bolesława Krzywoustego, Bolesława Śmiałego, Chodkiewicza and Aleja Piastów in Szczecin. It involves a comprehensive upgrading of three buildings along 34, 35, and 36 B. Śmiałego St., including yard development.

"Annexe No. 34 will be used for high-standard residential purposes for older people," says Tomasz Klek, the City's Press Spokesman for Housing. On each of its three floors, there will be small, single to double room apartments, fully finished, and designed with older and disabled persons in mind. In total, it will house 18 flats.

At the ground floor, there will be a community centre for annexe and front tenement house residents to meet and spend time together. The building will have an special elevator to provide wheelchair access for people with disabilities. 

In addition, on the roof of the 34 B. Śmiałego building, older people interested in gardening will be able to pursue their hobby. With the elevator that can reach the roof, and the "green" section on the roof, this will be easy.

 

There will also be a wooden structure that can act as a pergola or a framework which can be covered, e.g. by polycarbonate sheets, to create a kind of greenhouse. The size of this temporary structure will be easily adjustable to meet the needs of the local residents.

Annexes 35 and 36 will generally house double and triple room apartments, 23 in total.  Each of these two buildings will also have an elevator.

The project will also involve yard development. In addition to providing access to individual annexes, the yards will serve leisure purposes, and will have some new street furniture and greenery. The existing trees will be preserved.

On the yard and east of annexes 34 and 35, there will be low and medium-sized plants, with special focus on evergreen and ground cover plants to make the area look nice all year round.

"This redevelopment of annexes along B. Śmiałego St. will be funded from the own resources of Szczecińskie TBS, Support Fund (subsidy for the Szczecin Municipality), and a financial loan from the EIB under the EFSI. The project is scheduled to be completed by April 2023," says Tomasz Klek.

Currently, Szczecińskie TBS is looking for the contractor to handle this project.

These are not the first annexes to be upgraded by Szczecińskie TBS. Last year, the company completed a comprehensive renovation of nine buildings along Pocztowa and Bohaterów Warszawy Streets. And in 2018, two annexes along Bogusława St. were remodelled.
