To have fun, to promote physical activity, and to enjoy the unique company of sailing ships – these are the reasons you might want to go for a run across Szczecin's embankments in the morning. You can now register for the Sail Run (Bieg pod Żaglami).

Running is a sport you can practice every day and everywhere. And especially along embankments. Żagle 2021 is a perfect opportunity to come together for a fun run. On 1 August, at 9 a.m., you will be able to run a 5-kilometre race (Sail Run) next to some amazing quests we will be having moored in our berths.

The Run starts from Nabrzeże Pasażerskie and goes along the two banks of the Oder.

"Runners will go over a floating bridge and then return to the former Maritime Bus Station (Dworzec Morski) to receive commemorative medals," says Celina Wołosz, spokeswoman for Żegluga Szczecińska Turystyka Wydarzenia. "The "Sail Run" (Bieg pod Żaglami) is an informal competition where no times are taken, and the route is not certified. This even is just for fun. The cost of the running kit is PLN 25.

We encourage runners to be creative because we will have some prizes for those of you who dress in funny or colourful clothes inspired by the sea rather than using professional running gear."
