Boguslaw Promenade – colour brings us together!

Colourful illuminations, a lot of greenery, events and attractive offers from local restaurants. The City has some suggestions to make Boguslaw Promenade more attractive and has launched consultations with restaurant keepers. To make it more neighbourly-like, Rayskiego Street will be unavailable to car traffic at weekends during summer holidays, and instead it will be given to the local community to organise various activities.

A must-see for every Instagrammer. Boguslaw Promenade will be vibrant with colours. Due to the interesting and original arrangement of the area, Boguslaw Promenade is to attract residents and tourists to spend a lovely time there, take pictures, and use the services of local traders.

What does the City suggest? First of all, the Promenade should be kept clean and safe. Moreover, some investments are essential to make this area more attractive. The City is planning to introduce a lot of different types of greenery in original forms. The City also wants to take care of the greenery already grown there.

One of the solutions which may attract one’s attention will be diverse flower arrangements placed on a fountain which is ultimately scheduled for demolition. Besides, more elements of street furniture (benches etc.) are to appear on the Promenade.

In addition to the greenery, colourful illuminations will perform a vital role. They will be one of the main attractions in this area. Illuminations turned on at a fixed time are to become a magnet for residents and tourists.

“We have gone through difficult times. Our role is to carry out activities that will, on the one hand, give the residents of Szczecin a nice place to spend their free time and, on the other, allow local traders to pursue development, hopefully with no further forced stoppage”, said Piotr Krzystek, Mayor of Szczecin. “The attractions we are planning to provide will be an impulse which will help local companies not only to last but also to ‘bounce back’ after several lockdowns”.

Boguslaw Promenade. You are going to be really having it! In addition to some bigger and smaller investments which are supposed to make the Promenade flourish, the City is also planning a number of cyclical events in order to revitalise it, such as:

The New opening – Boguslaw Promenade: Colour brings us together. In connection with the planned changes to Boguslaw Promenade, the City is planning to hold a party for families. The party will feature such attractions as games, little theatres, artistic animations for children and adults.

Outdoor Cinema. Iconic productions from the past are coming back on the screen. This time you will be able to see them in an outdoor cinema which will appear in various parts of Szczecin. One of such film screenings is going to be held on the Boguslaw Promenade.

Illuminations. Boguslaw Promenade has become one of the destinations of the 3rd Edition of Illumination Festival which will take place in August. Due to the already existing building illuminations, a light and music show can be held.

Name day of Prince Boguslaw and Festival of Good Taste. On 23 September we will be celebrating a name day of the famous Rev. Boguslaw. On this occasion, the City is going to invite the residents of Szczecin on a tour of tastes and Szczecin’s specialities – all in cooperation with local traders. The programme will also be enriched with musical performances and animations for families.

Christmas Market. An event referring to the classic Christmas Market – but with its own theme – colour and local cuisine. Once again the City will encourage catering service providers to create a special offer tailored to the Christmas Market and present it on the Promenade.

The City is initiating changes on Boguslaw Promenade in cooperation with Szczecin’s TBS which is its user, and with the support of Żegluga Szczecińska Turystyka Wydarzenia and Szczecińska Agencja Artystyczna.

Not only Boguslaw Promenade. In cooperation with NGOs and traders, the City is also planning to continue revitalisation of Rayskiego Street. This idea met with a very good response from the residents and traders.

I am very pleased with the concept of changes on Rayskiego Street, said the Mayor of Szczecin.  “I am even happier about the fact that these solutions are being devised along with local traders. Jagiellońska, Bogusława and Rayskiego Streets are bringing new quality to Szczecin’s public space. I believe that these streets will become permanent destinations for the residents’ walking routes”.

Starting with July, at every holiday weekend Rayskiego Street will be unavailable to car traffic and instead it  be given to the local community to organise various activities.
