Beauty and the Beast
Katarzyna Jackowska

Puppentheater „Pleciuga”, pl. Teatralny
The story of Beauty and the Beast exists in many versions and can be found in cultures around the world.
It explores the idea of slowing down and looking deeper into another person. What proves essential is an encounter based on genuine attention, noticing and truly listening to others. Only then do we realise that a monster is not necessarily someone with a frightening appearance, and that not everything beautiful is inherently good.
The performance, aimed particularly at children aged 4–7, is based on puppet animation, with several puppeteers often operating a single character. This technique creates a high level of illusion, bringing the puppets vividly to life. The creator of the production draws on traditional forms, including the Japanese bunraku technique. The performance also features a richly developed musical layer, with songs performed live by the full ensemble of the Pleciuga Puppet Theatre.
