Inspector Jass on the Case: Pop Meets Jazz

    Community Centre “13 Muses”

From its early days in New Orleans, jazz has always been closely tied to dance and movement. Through the golden age of swing to the rise of rock and roll and disco, jazz has continuously evolved alongside shifting musical trends.

At this April concert, we’ll explore how these diverse genres – which have inspired millions over the decades – still draw from the rich roots of jazz. In the 1930s and early 1940s, swing was the dominant popular music, topping the charts and featuring songs from musicals that are now recognised as jazz standards, sung and loved by all.

Join us on a musical journey through the past half-century, showcasing songs that may be firmly planted in pop culture but carry unmistakable jazz DNA. Swing, rock and roll rhythms, disco grooves – all will come together in this original interpretation, revealing how jazz and pop can blend in unique and unexpected ways.

This concert reminds us that the boundaries between genres are fluid – because jazz lives on in all of them.

The concert is performed by students of the Popular Music Studio, Faculty of Jazz and Popular Music, Academy of Art in Szczecin.
