Czech weekend | The Little Mole and music

    Szczecin Philharmonic

The Little Mole? Of course, Czechia is the first association! There's probably no character from a cartoon in the world that so obviously evokes the country where it originated. The Little Mole, or Krtek in Czech, is originally a Czechoslovak and later Czech series of animated films for children created by Zdeněk Miler.

The first film featuring Krecik was made in 1957. Initially, the creator did not intend to make a series. However, the film's great success led Miler to return to his character. In 1963, another film was created: The Little Mole and the Car. It marked the beginning of a series, with subsequent episodes produced until 2002.

The Little Mole gained popularity among children in over sixty countries. He is recognisable worldwide and has become the hero of many children's and colouring books.

The Szczecin Philharmonic will play the music for three episodes of Krecik in the Golden Hall: The Little Mole the ClockmakerThe Little Mole in the Desert, and The Little Mole and Music.
