Carlos Gardel | The Soul of Tango
Katarzyna Jackowska

Community Centre “13 Muses”
The Soul of Tango is a musical monodrama that brings to life the story of Carlos Gardel, the man who gave tango its voice.
On stage, a single actor recreates Gardel’s childhood in Toulouse, his emigration to Buenos Aires, his meeting with José Razzano, and the birth of tango itself. Blending word, theatre and music, the performance presents Gardel not only as a legend, but also as a son, a friend and a man. It takes the audience on a musical journey through the defining moments of his international career – from films and tours to his tragic death. Felipe Céspedes steps into the role of Gardel and sings in this poetic tribute, featuring immortal classics such as El día que me quieras, Volver, Por una cabeza and Mi Buenos Aires querido.
This is intimate, minimalist theatre of great emotional power, where voice, guitar and accordion are enough to evoke the very soul of tango.
Language: Polish, with selected songs performed in Spanish
