August Breakthroughs
Katarzyna Jackowska

Jasne Błonia Square, Szczecin
Due to the modernisation of Solidarity Square, this year’s concert will take place at Jasne Błonia, by the Bartłomiejka fountain.
August Breakthroughs is an open-air concert first created in 2015 to commemorate the events of Szczecin’s August ’80 and August ’88.
At the end of the summer, Tomasz Raczek will take the audience on an atmospheric journey through music from some of the most famous works of Polish cinema. Performed by the Opera at the Castle Orchestra and special guests Wioletta Białk and Marek Piekarczyk, the programme will include well-known compositions from Polish films and television series such as Nights and Days, The Career of Nikodem Dyzma, Polish Roads, Vabank, Czterdziestolatek and Stawka większa niż życie, as well as the song Jaka róża taki cierń.
Traditionally, the repertoire will also include Jacek Kaczmarski’s Mury, with Dżem’s Sen o Victorii closing the concert.
