Echoes of Self Illusions in Heritage is an augmented reality experience that invites reflection on heritage and the possibilities offered by artistic imagination combined with the synthetic support of artificial intelligence.
The project is the result of an international collaboration initiated during the Hot Summer Digital Art and Design Academy – Citizen Dialogue, which centred on the fusion of digital art and artificial intelligence. At the MDF 2024 festival, visitors will have the opportunity to experience the outcomes of this creative dialogue between artists from Poland and Germany.
In an immersive environment, using XR glasses, participants will be transported to a world where the history of the Baltic region and the city of Wolin intertwines with modern technology. The works presented within Echoes of Self Illusions in Heritage were created as a result of workshops inspired by cultural heritage, where artists explored the past while designing the future. With the help of AI tools such as Midjourney, Leonardo AI, and Runway, participants have breathed new life into stories of bygone times.
This experience provides the perfect opportunity to reflect on how artificial intelligence can expand the boundaries of creativity, opening up new perspectives on how we view the past and imagine the future. MDF 2024 is a space where tradition meets modernity, and art becomes a bridge between eras.
